A Winter Scene
Winter had settled quietly over the small lake at Boundary Park in Surrey, near Vancouver.
The water was no longer moving.
A thin layer of ice covered the lake, turning it into a frozen mirror.
The low winter sun was shining straight from the horizon, bright and almost blinding, reflecting softly across the icy surface.
The Cold That Calls You Out
The cold was sharp that morning.
The kind of cold that makes you think twice before stepping outside.
But I have learned something during my travels and photo walks:
when nature prepares a scene like this, you simply cannot stay indoors.
Stepping Into the Moment
So I gathered all my energy, stepped out into the cold, and walked toward the lake with my camera.
Moments like this don’t last long.
A Quiet Stillness
Boundary Park is usually a quiet place for a walk.
In winter it becomes even calmer.
The frozen lake, the distant birds, and the pale sunlight create a peaceful scene that feels almost suspended in time.
Why These Moments Matter
Standing there, watching the light slowly move across the ice, I realized once again why I keep chasing these small moments.
A Simple Realization
Because sometimes, a frozen lake and a winter sunrise are enough to become another quiet Harbor Story.
