Travel as Walking
Travel is not always about distance.
Sometimes it is about walking.
A City in Autumn
This photograph was taken in downtown Vancouver, on Thurlow Street.
Tall glass towers rise above you, reflecting the grey autumn sky.
The city feels vertical. Structured. Alive.
The Feeling of the Season
I love walking through the city in the heart of autumn.
There is something about that season.
The air becomes cooler.
The light softer.
The streets quieter, yet more intimate.
When Rain Changes Everything
And when the rain begins, everything changes.
You stop.
You step into a small café.
You order a coffee.
You eat something warm.
Then you continue.
A Reflection That Connects
Earlier, I wrote about Travel and the Red Season of Canada — where nature dominates the landscape.
Here, it is different.
Autumn Meets the City
Here, autumn meets glass and steel.
You look up and see skyscrapers disappearing into low clouds.
Reflections multiply on wet sidewalks.
Cars move slower.
People walk faster.
The Rhythm of Downtown
Downtown Vancouver has a rhythm in autumn.
It is not loud.
It is not chaotic.
It is balanced.
Walking Without Destination
Walking without destination is one of the purest forms of travel.
You observe shop windows.
Office workers heading home.
Light turning on inside towers.
You feel part of the city.
A Moment of Presence
And that is what I love most.
Travel is not only about discovering nature or history.
Sometimes it is about standing between skyscrapers,
coffee in hand,
rain on the pavement,
and feeling completely present.
