A Harbor at Sunset

This photograph was taken along the waters of False Creek, with the impressive Granville Bridge rising above the marina.

Walking through this beautiful place at that quiet moment when the sun slowly begins to set, everything changes.
The light becomes softer, the reflections on the water grow deeper, and the harbor feels calmer.

A Simple Thought

While standing there, my attention was drawn to a sailboat resting peacefully at the dock.

And a simple thought crossed my mind.

From this point, that sailboat has only two bridges to pass beneath before reaching the open waters of the Pacific Ocean.

The Beginning of a Journey

Just two passages under the bridges and the calm harbor suddenly becomes the beginning of a journey.

A Reflection That Connects

Moments like this remind me of another walk along the Vancouver waterfront, where I reflected on the quiet harmony between the city, the marina, and the sea in Where the City Meets the Marina.

The Quiet Magic of Harbors

Harbors have this quiet magic.

They look peaceful and still, yet every boat carries the possibility of departure.

Imagining the Departure

Standing there beneath Granville Bridge, watching the sailboat resting in the marina, I couldn’t help imagining the moment when its lines are released, the boat glides slowly under the bridge, and the city gradually fades behind it as the open ocean begins ahead.
