A Simple Promise in Travel

Travel days often start with a simple promise.

You tell yourself that you will sit down later.
That there will be time for a coffee or a meal somewhere during the day.
After all, when you travel you don’t want to waste a single moment indoors.

The Rhythm of Travel

But travel has its own rhythm.

A Place Between City and Nature

This photograph was taken outside the Vancouver Convention Centre, one of the most beautiful waterfront buildings in Vancouver.

Surrounded by the sea, glass architecture, and the distant mountains, it is a place where the city and nature meet.

A Habit That Always Returns

And every time I pass by here, the same thing happens.

No matter how early it is, and even if I have just started my day, I never miss the opportunity to stop for a coffee or a meal.

A Reflection That Connects

Earlier, I wrote about Travel Walking Among the Glass Towers of Vancouver where long walks through the city slowly lead to moments of rest.

The Perfect Pause

Here, the pause feels even better.

You sit facing the harbor.
The water is calm.
People walk slowly along the promenade.

Knowing Where to Stop

And suddenly you realize something simple about travel.

Sometimes the best part of the journey
is knowing exactly where to stop for a moment.

A Moment by the Water

Especially when that moment happens
by the water in Vancouver.
